FASTER TRACK PROTOTYPING
Accelerated product development cycle gives Jyco the ability to make every part a custom solution. But “better” doesn’t mean longer or more expensive. Jyco has already converted well over 100 EPDM profiles to TPV, giving customers a head start on a turnkey engineering/validation process that Jyco cut down to less than eight months.

Jyco’s finite element analysis (FEA) simulates performance characteristics with 95% accuracy. This typically cuts prototype development down to less than four weeks. Sometimes even faster.

WHAT JYCO TESTS IS WHAT YOU GET
Jyco is the only TPV supplier TS/ISO/16949/9000 certified for design, testing and manufacturing. Quality procedures cascade through the entire Jyco organization to ensure that parts delivered to customers are consistent with test results. Customers also get all data.

COMPRESSION LOAD DEFLECTION TEST
By developing a tool that accurately measures force over compression on very small portions of the thinnest seals, Jyco has achieved greater definition of component properties in sunroof seal quality.

AGED FOR PERFECTION
How will the seal look and perform in four years? Test ovens subject seals to increased temperatures and pressure to simulate and accelerate the aging process. On the other extreme, freeze and ice release analysis confirmed less than 15N pull from frozen surfaces. JyFlex TPV remains flexible to -40°C, and won’t become brittle until -70°C.

QUIET PERFORMANCE
Squeak and Itch/Sound Insertion Testing proves Jyflex TPV superior to EPDM and silicone.

ELIMINATE BUCKLING
When it comes to keeping a radius, EPDM tends to buckle under the pressures. Jyco’s material and design innovations virtually eliminate this “pie-crusting” tendency.

EASY SLIDING
Flocked EPDM is pricey, and has high frictional qualities. It also tends to adhere to the glass over time. For an RV flyer window application, Jyco replaced the old seal with slide-coated TPV that reduced the slide effort by 45%, and cut costs by 22%. The new seal has better UV properties, too.

HIGHER INTEGRITY, LOWER CLOSING FORCE
JyFlex also overcomes EPDM’s historic issues with sound transmission, closing effort and long-term durability, not to mention environmental concerns. It consistently achieves higher sealing integrity with lower closing forces, and superior performance in slam, vibration and cycle load tests measuring wear abrasion on seals and painted panels.

100% RECYCLABLE
Processing like plastic in every respect, Jyco’s foamed TPV is also 100% recyclable.

EXTRUSION TECHNOLOGY
Jyco’s environmentally-safe, microcellular foam process produces homogenous cells for lighter weight, higher strength products, with stiffness loss linear to density reduction. Using patented extrusion screw designs and automated variable dies, Jyco can vary the profile within the same linear part. For example, a single primary seal can carry various bulb cross-sections to match door closure gaps. TPV extruded and molded parts can easily be combined with other thermoplastic materials to minimize the need for metal inserts. TPV can be formulated for reduced glare and a dry, non-greasy surface, and easily pigmented to match body color. And TPV’s reduced mass can cut pigment costs as much as 30%.
